The Climate Institute is very excited to announce we have been awarded $19.9 million from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand the work of our Climate Resilience Project in collaboration with our community partners. This grant work will be executed over the next three years and is the greatest investment in climate justice in Spokane history. We at Gonzaga University are so grateful to our partners at The Carl Maxey Center, SNAP, Spokane Public Library, and the City of Spokane for joining us in creating this application and pursuing the future work. As we are seeing unprecedented smoke and heat events with increasing frequency throughout the Inland Northwest, this investment in climate resilience could not have come at a better or more urgent time.
