I'm incredibly proud to announce that I have been named to Advertising Week's "Future Is Female" Shortlist 2024, and I am incredibly proud to be a woman - even if it is painful, difficult, isolating, & frustrating at times. This post is coming from the heart because this honor came while I'm enduring one of the most difficult things I have ever faced: my personal battle with endometriosis. I found it fitting that I was shortlisted for the "Future Is Female" Award during this battle because endometriosis is just one of the many examples of silent battles that women face every single day. I will never know if it is in spite of these battles or because of these battles, but what I do know is this: WOMEN ARE DAMN STRONG. These last few months, I have been in pain EVERY day. My battle with endometriosis has been much longer than just these months, but it has become unbearable in the last couple of months. I have been bedridden most weeks - physically unable to walk - due to severe nerve pain at certain times in my cycle. But, still, I show up to work and give it everything I can. I show up in my relationship and give it everything I can. I show up for my friends and family and give it everything I can. Through this battle, I have found strength within myself that I didn't know I had. This post is dedicated to the 190 million women who are living with this silent disease - which is one of the 20 most painful medical conditions in the world and takes an average of 8-10 years to diagnose - every single day. These women are not just living with it, but SUCCEEDING with it. LEADING with it. WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF with it. They're your mothers, sisters, bosses, friends, and so much stronger than you'll ever know. I am so lucky to have such amazing female mentors at Sports Innovation Lab (and an incredible ally in Josh Walker) who have helped me reach this point in my career. A HUGE thank you to Angela Ruggiero, Jennifer Pelino, & Gina Waldhorn. Watching you amazing, badass businesswomen in action has taught me so many things that I will carry with me forever. I also would be remiss not to thank my loving, creative, kind, & fun parents Stacey & John King. I wouldn’t be here without your guys’ support.
