The Miami HEAT revamped their home venue with a nearly 50-ft Flame Ball with 2,525 sq. ft. of LED above the middle of their court. Starting in 2016, the production team had their sights set on building an upgraded control room, as their original one was built in 2009. Plans included new private network for video-feed ingest and distribution to lower-bowl LEDs and other workflows, including IPTV, media-asset management, lighting, internal editing on Avid and Adobe systems and more. This project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was finalized in April 2023, but was not able to be put into use until later in the season. With these tech upgrades, the Heat was now able to deploy three additional handhelds and 10 POVs to the broadcast, allowing for greater coverage for fans and players alike. In addition to the behind the scenes tech upgrades, the team wanted a physical representation of the team in the arena. Thats where the the Flame Ball came in. The Flame Ball has 2.5-mm pixel spacing and is surrounded by four 19.5- x 29.5-ft. primary video screens, two 4- x 213-ft. upper LED rings with 3.9-mm pixel spacing, and four 10- x 21-ft. underbelly displays with 2.5-mm pixel spacing. These displays increase the venue’s total LED surface area to 7,440 sq. ft. and 55 million pixels. This gargantuan structure hangs in the center of the arena surrounded by large LED’s, amping up the atmosphere. “This entire project has been under way for several years after starting in 2016. It has been a learning process that didn’t really start until the end of last season, but now we feel like we’re ready to run.” - Ed Filomia Kyle Love | Sergio Lozano Cuartero | Blake Engman | Kurt Doster | Michael Rowe Ross Video | Evertz | ALPHA | Imagine Communications | Grass Valley | NewTek - now Vizrt | Daktronics | ENCO Systems | Canon Inc. | Sony 🔥 : https://lnkd.in/eytUbmCe
