The holiday season seems to already be in full swing and those seasonal drinks ☕ like pumpkin spice and apple crisp have taken over the shelves. But we highly recommend not letting them take over your #passwords. While it can be easy to tie what feels like countless passwords to current trends, topics and news, what may be easy for you to remember is easy for a criminal to crack and use for nefarious activities like #ATO and #fraud. SpyCloud compiles a list of some trending seasonal topics frequently to see what has been exposed on the criminal underground and we encourage you to update your password to something more complex and unique if you happen to see an exposed plaintext baseword here: https://bit.ly/41vEnfy. ✨ Make the end of 2024 merry and bright by protecting yourself and your organization from the cyber risks associated with compromised passwords.

Ransomware continues to rise across industries. In the past 12 months, 75% of organizations were affected by #ransomware more than once – a jump from 61% in 2023. Unfortunately, even with increased awareness of the costs and consequences, the #insurance sector is not immune from being targeted by cybercriminals. SpyCloud Chief Product Officer, Damon Fleury shares some insights on this growing threat and what the insurance industry and other organizations can do to better prepare their defenses and thwart these types of attacks from impacting their business. https://bit.ly/3OakbKa (Must be logged in to view.)

The Partnership Against Cybercrime has been meeting regularly over the past year -- including a 2 day workshop at the World Bank -- along with some of our customers and other industry leaders to understand the challenges #cybercrime imposes and develop more strategic approaches to defend together. In these discussions, it's clear that reducing friction between agencies and organizations for international collaboration can have a measurable impact in reducing the impact of cybercrime. We encourage you to read the latest report published today by the World Economic Forum on this collaborative framework. A big thank you to SpyCloud's SVP, Solutions Engineering and Investigations, Jason Lancaster and his team for their involvement in this instrumental partnership on behalf of #SpyCloud to disrupt cybercrime globally.
A new report launched! Collaborations between industry experts and the public sector are disrupting cybercrime. Disrupting Cybercrime Networks: A Collaboration Framework, developed by the World Economic Forum’s Partnership against Cybercrime, explores how to build on the success of existing partnerships to accelerate the disruption of cybercriminal activities. Numbers don't lie. Since the announcement of #OperationMagnus our team has observed quite a drastic drop in unique #RedLine and #Meta stealer infections. 📉 As our Vice President of #SpyCloudLabs, Trevor Hilligoss mentions this is a great win for the good guys and is just the sort of cybercrime disruption we want to see. To read more about these two legacy #infostealers and what organizations and users can do to combat this type of #malware and mitigate their risks from the stolen data, check out our recent blog on this topic: https://lnkd.in/ghiQrVWt
Let's celebrate a big win! 🎉 We have some early indication that Operation Magnus, a joint operation between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Army Criminal Investigation Division, Politie Nederland, and other US and EU partners, was a resounding success. On October 28th, the day the operation began, SpyCloud recaptured and analyzed around 130k unique RedLine logs - each log indicating a distinct RedLine infection - and about 23k Meta logs. By the 30th, both had fallen to below 4k, a decrease of 97% for RedLine and 92% for Meta. This is a fantastic trend and one we hope to continue seeing as both groups attempt to salvage what they can from the rubble caused by this concerted takedown. #MakeBadPeopleSad #Infostealers #RedLine #MetaStealer
