Maricopa County's investment in modern freeways and roads over the past four decades has significantly contributed to this growth. However, the continued success of this infrastructure is at risk if Prop 479, a half-cent sales tax extension funding transportation projects, is not approved by voters in November. Without this funding, commute times could increase, and economic growth and quality of life may decline.
