SSI team member David Hetherington will be one of the keynote speakers for the MBSE Summit 2024 in June in Traunkirchen, Austria. We are honored and excited to have David participate and showcase SSI's capabilities around Mission Engineering, UAF, and Sparx Enterprise Architect!

David Hetherington from System Strategy, Inc. will present the fourth keynote at the MBSE Summit 2024 💬 🎉 "Mission Engineering for Long-Life Systems" Long-life systems are extremely challenging to engineer. Sometimes executive stakeholders don’t understand the scope of the problem. In other cases, the long-life of the system is a surprise. Finally, there are the cases in which an organization procures a technology system without any planning for anything beyond the initial deployment. At Systems Strategy, Inc some of our client engagements are specifically about helping clients model the least awful course of action in managing a large system of rapidly aging technology components. I approach most tasks related to systems engineering and SysML models computationally, and have come to appreciate CATIA MagicDraw's OpenAPI. The learning curve for OpenAPI is steep, so for many casual users writing scripts, it can be daunting. I created the following approach that leverages your favorite IDE (and gradle) to simplify script generation.

System Strategy, Inc is honored to have employee David Hetherington selected to give a keynote address at the INCOSE Japan Symposium 2024 (JS 2024). He put out a tremendous amount of effort to prepare and deliver the presentation in Japanese and covered some very interesting topics about the challenge of designing truly modular systems in the face of economic competition, current trends in Mission Engineering, and finally the question of what exactly the role of the systems engineer is. Our whole team is excited about the relationships that David is building in Japan.

I was deeply honored to be invited to provide a keynote talk INCOSE Japan’s 2024 symposium! Delivering a presentation of this length and complexity in Japanese was a lifetime challenge for me. It was a lot of fun, but I never would have been able to pull this off without a tremendous amount of help from the Keio SDM and JCOSE team, in particular Professor Hidekazu Nishimura, Masaatsu Kusunoki, and Urara Satake. Their intensive support, along with a tremendous amount of preparation help from my wife Tomoko Hetherington made the difference. I am looking forward to being back to Japan regularly to work with the Japanese systems engineering community!
