  • We're elated to announce that South Suburban received the 2024 Grand Plaque National Gold Medal Award, a premier recognition that celebrates excellence in the park and recreation industry! 🥇 We learned this exciting news last week at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) annual conference in Atlanta. The Grand Plaque is the highest honor a parks and recreation organization can achieve and is awarded to only one agency in the country in each of the population-based award divisions by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, in partnership with NRPA. After being a finalist last year, we're humbled and honored to bring the top award back to the District for the first time since 1996! This huge accomplishment is a testament to the District's superb park and recreation services, and was made possible because of our excellent employees who provide top-tier service to all of the communities we serve and our awesome partners at City of Centennial, City of Littleton, City of Lone Tree, CO, City of Sheridan Colorado, Arapahoe County, Douglas County, and others! We want to congratulate our fellow winners at Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, City of New Braunfels, TX, City of Douglasville, GA, Dickinson Parks & Recreation, and Naval Air Station Whiting Field on their respective wins, as well as recognize all of the other organizations who were finalists in their respective categories this year! Bravo to you all, and let's keep up the excellent work! 👏
