Mission – To provide a quality continuum of care and support to all people, especially those affected by addiction, by responding to their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. This knowledge base includes the dynamics and treatment of addiction, women’s issues, HIV/AIDS, trauma as well as primary and preventative medical care.

    We are thrilled to announce that: Stephanie Miranda is the June Employee of the Month! Stephanie Miranda has been with SSTAR for over 3 years! Stephanie is the case manager for the psych providers in the outpatient clinic. Stephanie manages prior authorizations with the insurance companies, medication requests, releases and paperwork requests and calls, Teams, and emails regarding patients being served by the psych providers. She is hardworking and supportive. She goes above and beyond and manages well through the chaos of a busy clinic. She is always pleasant and helpful no matter what is being managed. She consistently steps in to help wherever needed and advocates for all of the patients in the clinic. She has been key to keeping the psych services moving forward. Stephanie is a wonderful choice for June Employee of the Month!

    We are thrilled to announce that: Christine DeSousa is the June Employee of the Month! Christine has been with SSTAR for 5 years! Christine is a nurse at our Lifeline program. Her coworkers note that she is a perfect employee of the month. She is always one of the first to arrive to the clinic every morning and sets up all three windows for dispensing to make sure that everything goes smoothly when patients arrive. Christine greets every patient with a smile and with encouraging words. She always performs simple acts of kindness that promote a positive environment for our patients and for staff at 1010. Christine jumps in to help with tasks that are not hers, she consistently assists other nurses whenever she notices a need. She is a valued asset to all at Lifeline. This is why Christine is a great choice for June Employee of the Month!

    The Emancipation Proclamation was handed down on January 1, 1863, it took some time for the news to spread. In Texas, slavery continued for years afterward because many people, especially in rural areas, simply hadn't heard yet that the Civil War had ended and Congress had passed the 13th Amendment. By 1866, Slave owners knew however.

    We are excited to announce that: Ashley Frasier is the May Employee of the Month! Ashley has been a Grant Coordinator with SSTAR for over 5 years! Ashley goes above beyond in managing the budgets and understands each grant and funding source, which is no easy task. She functions as both manager and coordinator. She steps in to cover when there is any transition in director positions. She manages multiple budgets with different funding sources and grant requirements. She has been instrumental in site visits. Ashley was key to the success of these visits. Her knowledge goes beyond just the fiscal component. Ashley made the transition from banking to non- profit work while working toward a master’s degree in health care. Her interest in healthcare expands her capacity to understand the programs. She has taken the time to set her educational goals consistent with the mission of the organization and seeking counsel from clinical and programmatic staff. Ashley always steps up to fill in gaps and help whenever needed. Ashley is a perfect choice for May Employee of the Month!

    We are excited to announce that: Betty Amarelo is the May Employee of the Month! Betty has been with SSTAR for over 20 years! Betty is currently the Scheduling Coordinator at SSTAR. She consistently demonstrates exceptional dedication. She has a remarkable work ethic and a positive attitude that significantly contributes to the success of the call center and front desk teams and to the organization overall. Betty exemplifies outstanding teamwork, cooperation, and leadership qualities. Her attention to detail is unwavering and her commitment to excellence is commendable. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to her colleagues, offers insightful suggestions and takes on additional responsibilities as needed. She is approachable and provides support and knowledge sharing that is a valuable asset to the team. She adapts easily to change and sets a positive example leading others forward to adjust.     We are excited to announce that: Tammara Fernandes is the April Employees of the Month! Tammara is a nurse in the MAT program and has been at SSTAR for the last 4 years! Tammara is described as a vital member of the MAT team. She consistently triages patient questions and helps them with their concerns making sure that they do not go without their medication. She is always kind, thoughtful and empathetic with her patients. She has great problem- solving skills which she always uses to get her patients what they need. Tammara is well connected to her peers and is a go to for them. She always shares her institutional knowledge with anyone who needs assistance and is a major support to all of those with whom she works. Her work is excellent, and she pays attention to the details that result in funding and resources for the program. She jumps in to pick up anything that needs to be done to keep the work moving forward. Tammara is a perfect choice for Employee of the Month!
