Claire’s smile lights up any room she enters and loves anything sparkles and glitter. ✨ In June 2023, at 4 years old, her life took an unexpected turn. After a simple slip on a slip and slide, what seemed like a minor fall turned into a journey no parent ever expects. Despite initial reassurances from doctors, her pain and spasms worsened, leading to an MRI that revealed a devastating diagnosis: metastatic Ewing #sarcoma. Claire has faced unimaginable challenges, including a major spinal surgery to remove the tumor, and is now bravely working to regain her mobility. She recently walked on her own for the first time since July 2023! Claire will continue to have scans every 3 months and has started phlebotomy treatments. #ResearchIsHope for kids like Claire and you can fund the next potential breakthrough by donating today: https://ow.ly/e74l50TRbzU #researchmatters #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerawareness #childhoodcancerresearch

✨ Research Spotlight from St. Baldrick’s Annual Report ✨ The Pediatric Cancer Data Commons (PCDC) houses the world’s largest set of harmonized clinical data for pediatric #cancer #research. With hundreds of international collaborators forming more than ten disease-specific consortia, they have collected and harmonized data from across more than forty countries and almost all types of pediatric cancer, allowing researchers easy access to this diverse data. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has proudly provided essential support for the development and launch of the PCDC data portal and analysis tools. The #researchers, who have already made their data available for research, are driving new science and publishing their discoveries. More than 90 papers have been published using data from the PCDC or consensus opinions developed by the consortium experts. If you’ve supported St. Baldrick’s, then you’ve made this possible! Thank you! Like & share to spread your impact. #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerawareness #researchishope #researchmatters #teamwork

Eli had an infectious smile and loved anything Daniel Tiger. At the age of 2, he was diagnosed with high-risk T-cell acute lymphoblastic #leukemia on December 6, 2021. On January 18, 2022, he went into remission, but the #cancer returned a year later. Eli endured months of treatment to prepare for a stem cell #transplant in May 2023. His dad’s stem cells were only a 50% match, but it was still his best shot at survival. Post-transplant, Eli’s prognosis was looking good, but as he was about to head home, he suffered from a handful of #health issues, including fevers, parainfluenza, and fungus in his bloodstream. After a bronchoscopy, which was needed after he contracted cytomegalovirus, he ended up intubated and in the PICU, and 3 weeks later, Eli passed away. 💔 As his mom Rosemary, shares, “We are forever grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to be [Eli's] parents. Our kids deserve so much more!” 🙏 There weren’t enough treatment options to save Eli and by donating today, you can help fund the next potential breakthrough to save a life, the life of a child with #cancer: https://ow.ly/qVgx50TQ1sq #researchishope #researchmatters #childhoodcancerawareness

In January 2021, the #FDA approved crizotinib for pediatric patients one year of age and older and young adults with relapsed or refractory, systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) that is ALK-positive. Crizotinib wasn’t a new drug, but had been used in adults to treat lung #cancer. Subsequently, in July 2022, the FDA approved crizotinib for pediatric patients 1 year of age and older with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory inflammatory ALK-positive myofibroblastic tumors (IMT). These approvals were based on the results of a COG phase 1/2 trial supported in part by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. "We are proud to be part of the development of these first biomarker-driven therapies for children and young adults with ALCL and IMT. This targeted therapy has not only provided a new, more effective option for those with relapsed or refractory disease but has also improved outcomes, offering hope where treatments were previously limited. These notable milestones pave the way for future approvals for childhood cancer.” – Dr. Yael Mosse, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia ✨ Raise Awareness. ✨ Like and share. #childhoodcancerawareness #childhoodcancer #pediatriccancer #research #researchishope #researchmatters
