Congratulations to Dr. Alap Jani, Dr. Kunjan Bhatt and Heart Hospital of Austin on being the first in the world to offer a new pulmonary artery sensor implant, empowering heart failure patients to take control of their health from home! This innovative technology allows for early detection of rising pulmonary artery pressures, giving our physicians crucial insights before complications arise. Patients can easily monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and oxygen saturation, helping them feel more confident and in charge of their health journey. We are excited to offer this to our community; together, we’re making strides toward better heart health! Congratulations to Anne Jamison for winning the employee Frist Humanitarian Award. The Frist Humanitarian Award recognizes the highest achievements in serving others. The award is given annually in recognition of the caring spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr. Anne’s first career as a social worker introduced her to at-risk people within her community, as well as catalyzed her desire to continue helping those in times of critical need. Now, in her second career, she works a nurse in the Emergency Department at Heart Hospital of Austin. During her time off, you can find her serving as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, where she is specially trained to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to victims, including effective courtroom testimony when needed. Please join us in congratulating Anne! We are so proud to have her as part of our team. #TheBestIsHere #WeShowUp #CareLikeFamily

At 41, Eddie Sahakian was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease, a condition that began to severely impact his life. Determined to regain control over his life, Eddie opted for deep brain stimulation at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. This sophisticated procedure, designed to modulate the brain’s electrical activity and alleviate Parkinson’s symptoms, was performed by Dr. Dhruve Jeevan using cutting-edge technology, including a robotic arm to enhance accuracy. “My tremor stopped immediately. It was almost like I had my own body back,” he said. The procedure not only provided relief from the persistent tremors, but also offered a renewed sense of normalcy and hope for Eddie’s future. #TheBestIsHere #WeShowUp #CareLikeFamily #Parkinsons #HealthCare #DeepBrainStimulation

Congratulations to Dr. Joshua McKay and the team at Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David’s Round Rock for being the first facility in Texas to use a novel thrombectomy catheter system to treat blocked arteries in the lungs. The first-of-its-kind system uses a flexible tube that enables doctors to safely navigate to the blood clot and remove it with controlled suction. This new, minimally invasive procedure was performed as part of a phased trial to gain clearance from the FDA. So glad we could be part of this special day! 💚⚽️🖤
THANK YOU to Denise Bradley, our amazing Community Advisory Board member, for orchestrating an unforgettable day for our children at the St. David’s Performance Center, the Official Training Facility of Austin FC! 💚 🖤 Special shoutout to the fantastic team members at St. David's HealthCare (Gabe Perlaza, Abbi Miller, Meg Moss) and Austin FC's Alison Roscoe for coordinating and hosting such a memorable afternoon for our children. The kids were thrilled to meet Austin FC soccer players Diego Rubio and Micah Burton, who joined the tour of the facility and shared tips and tricks while kicking the ball around with them on the field! ⚽ After the fun on the field, the kids learned about the importance of nutrition and how to fuel their bodies after endurance activities. To top it all off, the players autographed the kids’ shirts provided by St. David’s Healthcare and sent them home with Austin FC soccer balls! We are so grateful for this incredible experience that the kids will cherish forever! #HopeHappensHere

This past April, St. David’s HealthCare led a panel discussion at SXSW about the use of artificial intelligence in brain mapping. Dr. William Rice, senior vice president of clinical innovation at St. David’s HealthCare, moderated the panel. One of the panelists, Dr. Dhruve Jeevan, a neurosurgeon with St. David’s HealthCare, is using brain mapping as a pre-surgical planning tool to better understand the unique connections of each of his patients with tumors. Through the use of AI, he is able to take patients’ MRIs and visualize the critical brain networks to aid in preserving brain function, lowering the risk of post-surgical complications. Previously, surgeons applied knowledge from generalized brain maps to treat their patients. To view the full panel: https://lnkd.in/gvZkZA2v #TheBestIsHere #AI #Brain #Aging #Innovation #Healthcare
