We are excited to announce that St. Elizabeth's has adopted Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) as our new K-5 curriculum! The EL Education curriculum is built on the Science of Reading, empowering all students to read complex, grade-level texts and master literacy standards. With a focus on structured phonics, it ensures equitable outcomes for all students, allowing them to thrive academically. This curriculum offers more than just literacy—it builds deep knowledge through content-rich, authentic texts on real-world topics, including social studies, STEM, and literature. Students are encouraged to leverage their learning for social justice and environmental stewardship, while developing the habits of character that will help them contribute to a better world. A key component of EL Education is the K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block, a one-hour structured phonics block based on the Phase Theory of Dr. Linnea Ehri. This approach ensures that by the end of grade 2, students possess the foundational reading and writing skills needed to navigate grade-level texts independently, addressing both Reading Foundations and Language standards.
