As we continue to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month, two survivors share their stories of resilience and triumph. Diagnosed unexpectedly, they credit early detection through mammograms for saving their lives. Their experiences serve as a reminder to women 40+ to prioritize annual screenings and self-exams. Read their inspiring stories and join the movement to spread awareness and promote breast cancer awareness.   “I am a breast cancer survivor. It was a shock when I received my diagnosis, I didn't know anyone in my family that had breast cancer. I was lucky that it was caught very early due to a mammogram, so I am avid about spreading the message to make sure you get your annual mammogram, it may be uncomfortable for a few minutes, but it can save your life. I was blessed in that I didn't have to go through chemotherapy, I had a lumpectomy, received 30 radiation treatments, and I am on medication for at least 5 years. I am 3 years cancer free at this point. The most important message is that if caught early it doesn't have to be a death sentence. Monthly self-exams and annual mammograms are very important. It doesn't have to run in your family to happen to you. If this will help someone publish it.” Barb Mayo, Aftermarket Manager, Hackney.   “My story is one that will hopefully remind all women the age of 40 and older to get their mammogram screenings. From the time I turned 40 I was receiving my yearly mammograms and doing self-checks periodically, In October 2019 I had my yearly mammogram, a week later I had received a call that there was something on my screening that did not look normal to my previous scans. I had to return for an ultrasound, then a biopsy. A week later I received the devastating news that I had Hormone Induced Breast Cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma). My cancer was caught early thanks to my yearly mammogram screenings, so my prognosis was good. I had a Lumpectomy in November 2019, followed by radiation in January 2020. This November 2024 I will be 5 years cancer free. I hope my story will just be a reminder to do yourself breast exams and yearly mammograms. If you ever feel a lump or something does not seem right, please do not hesitate to get checked by a doctor.” Anonymous. #STEngineering #BreastCancerAwareness

LeeBoy Staff Lend a Hand in Community Clean-Up On September 20th, 14 LeeBoy staff members came together to make a positive impact on their community. They cleaned up the exterior of two buildings and the LeeBoy side of the Industrial Parkway.   Their hard work paid off, resulting in the collection of 2 bags of recyclables and 12 bags of trash. These efforts not only beautified the area but also contributed to a more sustainable environment.   To show appreciation for their volunteerism, the team was treated to a delicious breakfast of Biscuitville biscuits!   The event demonstrated that even small actions can add up to make a big impact in ST Engineering’s overall sustainability efforts, and we look forward to continuing this initiative in the future. #STEngineering #Sustainability #WorldCleanupday #LeeBoy

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and ST Engineering in North America is committed to supporting its female staff and promoting a culture of care. Our Women@Work spotlight for September is on Stephanie Hall: Stephanie Leigh Hall is a seasoned IT professional with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Stephanie began her career as a Network Administrator in 1998. She has since advanced to the role of Senior IT Support Specialist at ST Engineering, where she joined the IT team in 2021, supporting Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. Stephanie continues to excel in Service Desk Management, end user support and IT infrastructure. Stephanie enjoys working with people in her role, helping them advance their computer knowledge and getting to know the ins and outs of the business she is supporting. She has a passion for advanced technology innovation and has found her perfect fit at ST Engineering, where her talents and interests translate into a successful career and bright future.   In addition to her technical expertise, Stephanie holds an Associate of Arts and Science degree from Delgado Community College. Stephanie’s talents extend beyond the realm of IT. She is also an accomplished recording artist, having recently released her first solo album.
