Ardeth Anderson at front desk, c. 1945 (Courtesy of Ardeth Anderson) "We had the greatest security in the world - Ardeth! The best night clerk anybody could have. He was always awake. Ardeth was just that cagey, and very astute," said Art. "Always worked as a night clerk. Seven days a week. Never had a Christmas off, or Thanksgiving or anything off. I worked 11 to 7. You see the other side of life that people don't believe. That's what I liked about it," Ardeth stated. This short story is from the book "If Walls Could Talk, a Story of the Old St. James", by Patrice Avon Marvin + Nicholas Curchin Vrooman.

S.B. Foot Foremen's Banquet c. 1953 📸 S.B. Foot Tanning Co. "We'd have banquets. S.B. Foot really put on some big banquets. Out in the lobby, we would have tables of hors d'oeuvres to go with their drinks. We'd have a great big glass bowl and we used to hang all the shrimp around the edge. We'd fix great big trays of cheeses and cold meats. We'd wrap the meats and make them look like calla lilies. We really worked hard to make them look nice," said Vera from the book, "If Walls Could Talk - a story of the old St. James".
