Teacher Architectural Drafting at Pedro Menendez High School

Last week I had the privileged of taking two Pedro Menendez High School students to represent the state of Florida and Pedro Menendez High School at the Skills USA National Competition in Atlanta GA. The national competition is reserved for state winners in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Trent Stasky represented Fl and Pedro Menendez in Technical Drafting and though he did not place in the top three he did a tremendous job. Casey Chhour represented the state of Fl and Pedro Menendez in Architectural Drafting and placed 3RD in the nation. I could not be more proud of the accomplishments of these two young men and what it means to the Architecture and Engineering Design Program at Pedro Menendez High School.

  • Congratulations to Jordyn Waters, a Pedro Menendez High School teacher who was recently awarded the Kagan Summer Academy Scholarship. Kagan is an educational organization focused on increasing student achievement and engagement through collaborative structures and strategies. Ms. Waters was one of only 18 educators nationwide selected for this prestigious scholarship. When not engaged in meaningful professional learning, Ms. Waters spent time learning more with Dr. Spencer Kagan.

  • In preparation for the start of school on Monday, August 12, the SJCSD Transportation Department will have all operators and buses following their transportation routes for district-wide rehearsals on Wednesday, July 31, and Wednesday, August 7. These rehearsals will ensure that operators are familiar with their assigned routes and stops and will exercise all buses that were in reduced use for the summer. They will also help alert the community that the buses will soon return to the roadways so they can adjust their commutes as needed.
