This month, our executive team had the incredible opportunity to participate in “Walk in Your World,” an event where leaders across MountainStar Healthcare and HCA Healthcare shadowed hospital colleagues in various departments and locations. This program is about listening to the voices that matter most—the caregivers and team members who play a part in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. At St. Mark’s Hospital, we're proud to be part of HCA Healthcare, where patient safety and quality care are top priorities. With over 43 million patient encounters each year, HCA Healthcare is continuously sharing best practices to improve patient outcomes. One way we elevate care is by giving caregivers a platform to share insights directly with leadership. Our leaders walked alongside our dedicated colleagues, recognizing successes, identifying opportunities, and, most importantly, listening to feedback on how we can further remove barriers and enhance the patient and caregiver experience. We are committed to continuing to deliver safe, patient-centered care across our entire network, and events like “Walk in Your World” help us achieve that commitment. #HCAhealthcare #WalkInYourWorld #WeShowUp

At St. Mark’s Hospital, we believe in the power of compassionate care and the strength of family—both inside and outside our hospital walls. When Melinda Patterson, Chief Nursing Officer at our fellow MountainStar Healthcare facility, Lone Peak Hospital, found her 70-year-old father experiencing stroke symptoms, she knew exactly what to do. After calling 911, her father was rushed to St. Mark’s Hospital—a Comprehensive Stroke Center—by the team at Unified Fire Station 112. After receiving life-saving stroke treatment, her father began the recovery process in our Progressive Care Unit and, within four days, was able to move to our Acute Rehab Center. Now fully recovered, he recently visited the EMS crew that transported him to thank them for their lifesaving care personally. (Pictured above: Melinda, her father, and the initial response EMS crew.) In Melinda’s own words: "Healthcare is all about relationships and partnerships. When my father had a stroke, I knew without doubt my loved one was in the best care possible. Today, my father was able to walk into their fire station and express his thanks. I am incredibly grateful for their talent, commitment, and the art of caring. Every role matters, and you never know when you will need them." At St Mark’s Hospital, we are proud to be a Comprehensive Stroke Center, ready 24/7 to care for even the most severe stroke cases. Because when it comes to our loved ones, we all deserve the best. We are incredibly grateful for our EMS partners and their role in providing care to our communities. We recently celebrated our “Walk in Your World” event! Brianna Barton, Vice President of Quality at HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division, spent the day shadowing Ellie, a nurse in our Comprehensive Medical Surgical Unit, to gain firsthand insight into our caregivers' incredible work. “Ellie was so amazing! Medical/surgical nursing is one of the hardest nursing roles there is. Ellie did an amazing job of managing the care of all of her patients and making that care individualized, too,” Brianna said. “Everyone on that unit worked together so well. It was fun to watch how they answered each other’s call lights and collaborated. I also loved seeing all the new technology (compared to when I was working as a nurse) and how that makes coordinating care with the whole care team easier.” A big thank you to Brianna for visiting St. Mark’s Hospital and to Ellie for her exceptional expertise in showing what makes our hospital so unique. #CareLikeFamily #WalkInYourWorld #HCAhealthcare #HCANursing #HealthcareHeroes #WeShowUp
