Changing lives of at-risk people through service and faith.

About us

Founded in 1852, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul New Orleans was established with the mission of creating a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness, and building a more just world through personal relationships with, and service to, people in need. Vincentian members throughout the Greater New Orleans area build connections with our neighbors in need, not only providing material assistance with rent, utilities, food, or clothing, but also offering friendship, understanding, and prayer. Because “no work of charity is foreign to the Society,” Vincentians respond to a variety of community and individual needs through disaster relief services, food pantries, work with incarcerated persons, medical services, and many others, always seeking long-term pathways out of poverty and towards the full flourishing of every person. SVdP Nola is also home to programs and special works like our Adult Learning Center, Thrift Store, and Nourishing Louisiana AmeriCorps VISTA program, which actively work toward equity and justice in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana.
