This Women's Equality Day, we honor the women who fought for decades to enshrine the 19th amendment, which said, in part, that “the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex,” in our constitution. While we commemorate the efforts of those groundbreaking activists and reaffirm our commitment to equality under the law, we also recognize the hard truth that women of color were still denied their vote for many more decades. We're spotlighting PASTA! Aside from being a delicious meal, PASTA is an acronym for "Parenting A Second Time Around," a support group for caregivers in our Kinship Care program. Our Kinship Caregiver program is for families with custody of or providing informal care to the child of a relative or close family friend. Families receiving Kinship Care services participate in support groups, such as PASTA, crisis management training, peer-to-peer support activities, and one-on-one educational sessions. Last week, we hosted "Kidz Prom" for the children in our residential programs, some of whom may not get the opportunity to attend a traditional prom. Total Events donated their time and resources to create a beautiful, enchanted forest theme under the tent, and our children had the opportunity to dress up, move to the music of a live DJ, and enjoy food and drinks. 💚 💫 #KidzProm #EnchantedForest #HopeForTomorrow
