We were awarded our first General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule (MSA) Contract task order, and have begun serving federal agencies, marking an exciting expansion into the federal sector. Additionally, we have grown our client base with new high-tech clients, further strengthening our market presence. According to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. labor market added 143,000 jobs in January, falling short of the expected 170,000 due in part to disruptions from California wildfires and severe weather. However, job growth in the prior two months was revised higher by a combined 100,000 positions, signaling a stronger close to 2024. The unemployment rate declined slightly to 4.0%, while average hourly wages increased by 0.5%, reflecting steady income growth. For decades, companies relied on college degrees as the primary indicator of a candidate’s skills, assuming that formal education was the best way to develop expertise. However, as industries evolve and technology advances, degrees alone are no longer a reliable measure of qualifications. The shift to a skills-first approach is well underway. The LinkedIn Future of Recruiting 2025 report reveals that 93% of talent acquisition professionals now believe accurately assessing skills is crucial to improving the quality of hires, a sharp increase from 73% in LinkedIn’s 2024 report, which had already indicated a growing shift toward skills-first hiring. Additionally, companies that prioritize skills-based searches are 12% more likely to make quality hires, reinforcing the effectiveness of this approach. As businesses recognize that skills can be developed in many ways - through online courses, bootcamps, certifications, apprenticeships, or self-directed learning - hiring managers need to rethink how they evaluate talent.
