Bullying is linked to many negative outcomes including impacts on mental health, substance use, and suicide. About us
Stand for the Silent (SFTS) was born out of the heartbreaking experience of Kirk and Laura Smalley, whose 11-year-old son tragically took his own life after experiencing two years of relentless bullying in his hometown of Perkins, Oklahoma. In 2010, SFTS was born in Perkins, founded by empathetic students with a mission to educate and provide resources to students and their families to mitigate the spread of bullying, as well as to ensure that no child suffers the effects of bullying alone and in silence. A critical element of our educational offerings is designed for students and parents to learn about and better cope with cyber-bullying in the age of social media.
