On this #ThankfulThursday, we are filled with gratitude for our partnership with Alpha Xi Delta. As members gear up for their Letters of Love campaign next month, we just want to say thank you for all the ways their kindly hearts make a national difference for the youth we serve. Our Walk & Chalk initiative is another way to show love and share personal stories of why you choose to support our work. Whether you use pen and paper or pick up a piece of chalk, take a walk and express your message to bring awareness to youth homelessness. Ending the cycle of youth homelessness
About us
Our mission is to end the cycle of youth homelessness. We do this every day in cities across America, one youth at a time. Our volunteers and staff are here to empower homeless and at-risk youth toward lifelong personal growth, and to create in these youth a sincere belief in themselves through open, straightforward counseling, mentoring, and life-skills training. StandUp For Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax ID Number 33-0414855

Libraries can be a safe haven for our homeless youth population. Libraries in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and San Francisco are now employing social workers to help support kids directly. In San Antonino, we have the opportunity to serve kids in the Library’s program space. Donate today so we can do even more. https://lnkd.in/emGD5mQ7 #SocialWorkers #Libraries #HomelessYouth #Community #LibraryLove #PublicLibrary #SafeHaven #YouthServices #Atlanta #Denver #Chicago #SanFrancisco #SanAntonio

We met these long-term mentees during COVID. They stayed online for 4 years while dual-enrolled at GSU, with one becoming salutatorian and the other ranking 6th in her class. At a recent Board meeting, they shared their inspiring journey and expressed gratitude to their mentors for keeping up over Zoom and introducing them to Black Girls Code and a nursing internship, which shaped their education and career paths. As they head off to college, the twins will split up for the first time, attending Savannah and GSU with scholarship support. A close family living in hotels since we met them, the girls’ mother did whatever she could to help them build a brighter future. This is unusual, as often there is not a parent on the scene, or if so, they’re not functioning or supportive of education. Inspired by the help they received along the way, the twins are committed to giving back. Best of luck to them –we just know you're going to continue achieving great things and making a positive impact in the world.
