Star of the West’s 2024 intern group was fortunate to attend a tour through the WK Kellogg Co’s Battle Creek, Michigan Plant. During this tour, our interns learned more about the food industry, food safety, and what some of our commodities grown in Michigan are creating!

Excited to support the Star Of The West Milling Company on their sustainability journey with our Environmental Impact Services. Star of the West have been doing some exciting work within their mills and with their farmers for many years to reduce their environmental footprint. Recently, I had the opportunity to represent Star Of The West Milling Company at a Michigan Farm Bureau Issues and Outlook Conference on a panel focusing on sustainability. This conference was a great opportunity to share more on Star of the West's partnerships with growers and food companies and how they are working towards sustainability goals together. The MABA Agribusiness Leadership Program class appreciated the opportunity to meet this week with allied ag organizations, the Michigan Congressional delegation, and Administration officials to discuss pressing issues facing Michigan Agriculture. Just a few of the topics we discussed with government leaders included the need for a new, bipartisan Farm Bill; the importance of crop protection products and innovative ag technology; the need for a wage rate freeze to help Michigan’s fruit and vegetable growers; and the importance of continued cross-border trade.
