With our partners at Stark County Manufacturing Workforce Development Partnership, educators will tour local manufacturing plants and learn more about the local economy. As we begin the school year, SEP would like to wish all Stark County students luck in the upcoming year! Many of our partner districts will be beginning their Career Connected Learning (CCL) efforts this month. To start, students will be completing the YouScience career aptitude assessment to build a foundation for future CCL opportunities. Congratulations to Stark County’s three new Ohio College & Career Guides! Alysha Mitzel, Lexus Roshong, and Mia Holt-Hoskins completed their AmeriCorps training today and are ready to serve students in Canton City School District, MASSILLON CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, and Alliance City Schools. SEP is entering our 14th year in partnership with ServeOhio and AmeriCorps, and we are so excited to see all the great things our guides accomplish!

Thank you to Marathon Petroleum Corporation for hosting four amazing Louisville students this summer! Students had the opportunities to participate in the Canton Marathon Petroleum Youth Summer Program, where they engaged in career exploration and learned a great deal about the crude oil refinery right here in Stark County.

Have you filed your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year? FAFSA completion rates are down 11% nationwide this year, but there is still plenty of time to apply for federal student aid! As NCAN explains in their recent article, despite claims to the contrary, students have until June 30, 2025, to file a FAFSA for the 2024-25 academic year! If you are looking for support in FAFSA completion, any college or university financial aid office can support you in the process. Congratulations to A.R.E. Accessories who were recently recognize by Governor Mike DeWine as one of nine new state projects expected to create $217 million in investment across Ohio! This project was approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority and is expected to bring 111 new full-time jobs to the Massillon area over the next few years. A.R.E have been great partners in Career Connected Learning, and we are excited to see the great opportunities we can provide together for students in the next school year! https://lnkd.in/gpkDKSTv
