  • Happy #WomenPharmacist Day! NASPA is proud to have TWO women pharmacists on staff. Learn more about why NASPA's Director of State Policy Brooklyn Morgan chose the path of pharmacy: ❓What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy, and how has your journey as a woman in this field shaped your experiences? 🎤 My passion for pharmacy was sparked by a desire to make a tangible impact on patient health and well-being, combining my love for math and science with a commitment to expanding patient access to care. Being a woman in this field has been empowering, allowing me to embrace leadership roles and contribute a unique perspective. ❓What advice would you give to young women considering a career in pharmacy or healthcare? 🎤Believe in your abilities, and don’t be afraid to pursue roles or specialties that may seem non-traditional. • Happy #WomenPharmacist Day! NASPA is proud to have TWO women pharmacists on staff. Learn more about why NASPA CEO Krystalyn Weaver chose the path of pharmacy: ❓What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy, and how has your journey as a woman in this field shaped your experiences? 🎤 From an early age, I was captivated by how science can profoundly impact people’s lives, and pharmacy stood out as a field where I could make a meaningful difference. Even though I am no longer a practicing pharmacist, my career within the pharmacy realm has allowed me to contribute in meaningful ways that have provided me with a fulfilling career. Throughout my journey, I’ve observed the serious challenges that women who are practicing pharmacists often encounter. Issues like inadequate parental leave, inflexible work schedules, and the troubling prevalence of sexual harassment highlight the deeply rooted biases against women in our field. These obstacles not only hinder professional growth but also affect personal well-being. However, witnessing the resilience of many strong female role models in pharmacy has been incredibly inspiring. Their guidance and determination to push past and address these barriers have reinforced my commitment to advocate for positive change and support others facing similar challenges. ❓What advice would you give to young women considering a career in pharmacy or healthcare? 🎤I would encourage young women to pursue their passion for pharmacy or healthcare with confidence and determination. Be aware of the challenges that exist, but don’t let them deter you. Instead, let these issues fuel your resolve to bring about change. Seek out mentors and allies who support your ambitions and can offer guidance. Building a strong professional network is invaluable. Don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself and others; your voice is a powerful tool for initiating change. Remember that every hurdle you overcome not only advances your own career but also helps pave the way for those who will follow. By striving for excellence and pushing for a more equitable work environment, you contribute to the positive evolution of the entire healthcare field.
