We are pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Stiffler to the position of Senior Director Data Management in the Information Technology (IT) Department. In his new role, Mike will report to Gil Salazar, Senior Vice President IT and will help build a new Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BICOE) as well as oversee the analysis, reporting, and quality of collected business data. Mike joined the Stater Bros. Markets team in 2018 as the company’s Director of Data Management in the IT Department. His professional journey began during the dotcom era, where he analyzed stock trading data on Wall Street before discovering his passion for technology and data. He has over two decades of experience in various roles, encompassing data analysis, database administration, data management and data governance. Before joining Stater Bros. Markets, he was Director of Data Services at Hyundai Capital where he supervised business intelligence, master data management (MDM), and data integration. Since arriving here, Mike has been instrumental in implementing our MDM solution, as well as steering the Data Foundation initiative, that includes deployment of our cloud data infrastructure to facilitate Retail and Marketing reporting and analytics capabilities. Mike’s academic credentials include a Master of Business of Administration from University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. His leadership and expertise have also been showcased at conferences such as Data Governance & Information Quality and the Data Governance Professionals Organization. We are proud to extend our congratulations to Gil Salazar, MS on his promotion to the position of Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). In his new role, Gil will continue to lead a team that is driving technological innovation for the future of the company and will continue to serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team. Gil has led the company’s efforts to overhaul its aging technology infrastructure and IT, which includes the successful rollout of Emerald Point of Sale (POS) systems. He is currently leading the company’s transition to a modern Human Capital Management (HCM) system and preparing for the implementation of a revolutionary Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Gil has led the buildout of the company’s enterprise data foundation strategy, including the development of a cloud-based enterprise data lake, a master data management platform and innovative business intelligence tools and capabilities. In this expanded role, he will lead the newly created Enterprise Data Management team that is comprised of the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BICOE), Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Governance teams. The new Enterprise Data Management team will be delivering data-driven insights through reports and visuals, derived from timely insights to support rapid decision making, and ensuring improved data quality. Gil has nearly 35 years of IT experience and has been a valued member of the Stater Bros. team for eight years. Before joining Stater Bros., Gil held various senior-level leadership roles at Hyundai Capital America, ConAgra Foods, AIG, and Ford Motor Credit. He first joined us as Assistant Director of Operations/Technical Support in 2013. After a brief period exploring other opportunities, he returned in 2016 as Vice President of Information Technology. In 2020, Gil was promoted to Senior Vice President of Information Technology. He holds a Master of Science in Food Industry Leadership from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Liberty University. He has completed the Computer Information Systems Program from the United States Naval Technical Training Center and served four years in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch. Gil is also a graduate of the USC Executive Management Program, a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, and serves on the Stater Bros. Charities Board of Directors. We are excited to announce the promotion of Kerry Carrillo to the position of Director of Compensation and Benefits in the Human Resources Department. In her new role, Kerry will lead all aspects of the company’s compensations, benefits, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) strategies, policies, and program designs. She will also be designing and implementing compensation and total rewards programs to attract and retain company teammates. She will report to Jerrold Coakley, Senior Vice President Human Resources along with the leave management team reporting through her leadership. Beginning her career with Stater Bros. Markets in 1994 as a courtesy clerk at #1 Arlington in Riverside, she was promoted to Accounts Payable File Clerk in Accounting/Finance in 1998. Kerry continued to advance through various positions including Payroll Manager in 2015. In 2022, she shifted to the Human Resources Department to take on her most recent role as Senior Manager Compensation and Benefits. Kerry holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Arts in Social and Behavioral from Riverside City College.
