  • 💰 Latina women are the backbone of their families, yet they earn just 51 cents for every dollar a white man earns. Let’s push for higher wages and union protections to improve the quality of life for Latino families. #LatinaEqualPay #Trabajadoras Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gFMX575

  • Union activists like Cynthia Overby and Dan Jackson are always happy to help their communities. But they know that what families across the country really need are greater access to unions, more middle-class jobs and the other opportunities that Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver as president. They intend to vote for Harris on Nov. 5 because of her commitment to lift everybody up and build an economy for all. "To me, it’s the most black-and-white situation,” said Overby. Our leaders must be “for the people, to better serve the people—not just an individual or a small group—but the people.” Check out President McCall’s latest blog to read more: http://usw.to/opportunity

  • We continue our celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month with Emma Tenayuca! She was known as La Pasionaria de Texas, and led the 1938 San Antonio Pecan Shellers Strike, organizing 12,000 workers to fight for fair wages and better conditions. Her fearless activism made her a key figure in labor and civil rights history. #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #EmmaTenayuca #LaborRights #USW #Steelworkers

  • America’s national and economic security hinges on maintaining strong domestic supply chains. David McCall’s latest blog post highlights how the closure of a key titanium sponge plant left the U.S. vulnerable, relying on foreign suppliers for critical materials. Fortunately, legislation like the Infrastructure Act and CHIPS Act passed by the Biden-Harris administration is revitalizing American manufacturing and securing union jobs. In 1919, four workers were killed and 62 were injured during the General Steel Strike at the Standard Steel Car Co. in Hammond, Indiana.    This past weekend, the Hammond Historical Society, along with USW SOAR member Terry Steagall and representatives from District 7, dedicated a monument to honor their memory and their fight for better working conditions.
