Greg Erianne captured this fantastic shot of the Heart Nebula with his SVX90T in the Perseus arm of Cassiopeia. Resting 7,500 light-years away from Earth, this emission nebula displays glowing ionized hydrogen gas and darker dust lanes. Its blue and orange colors seen in narrowband images are the result of ionized oxygen and sulfur gasses, while its shape is driven by stellar winds from the hot stars at its core. https://lnkd.in/gEFzbBNw #stellarvue

Steve Tambosso captured these magnificent shots of the Aurora Borealis from Kelowna, British Columbia. The northern lights typically appear as shimmering curtains or pillars of green and purple light, but depending on the atmosphere's density and composition, they can also be seen as red, blue and pink. https://lnkd.in/eRNURPmd #stellarvue

Ray Wiens captured this magnificent image of the Aurora last week, from Alberta Canada. Since the sun is currently at the maximum phase of its 11-year cycle, solar surges and northern lights are more frequent. This active period is expected to last for at least another year. So, more colorful auroras are likely to visit places farther south. https://ow.ly/bGW350TN5QG

In the constellation Pegasus, Brian Meyers reached deep to capture this shot of NGC 7331 and Stephan’s Quintet with his SVX152T. NGC 7331 in the foreground, is the brightest galaxy in a group of galaxies known as the Deer Lick Group. In the background to the upper right, is Stephan’s Quintet, the most studied of all compact galaxy groups. The brightest member of this group is NGC 7320, which has immense regions of ionized hydrogen, seen as red blobs, where active star formation occurs. https://ow.ly/7jVf50TM2Zk #stellarvue

Go take a look at the A3 Comet this evening. Find a spot on high ground and look to the south-west horizon, just after sunset. Visit Sky and Telescope for more information. https://ow.ly/ptIP50TL447 Photo taken by Vic Maris.

With his SVX90T, Brian Meyers managed to take this brilliant shot of the Clamshell Nebula (Sh2-119) in Cygnus. Located 2,200 light-years away from Earth. This emission nebula’s gas and dust is ionized and illuminated by the bright blue-white stars held within. As these stars age and die, they release gas and dust back into space, eventually leading to new star formation. https://ow.ly/158h50TH8a3 #stellarvue

Here's your monthly update for "In the Sky" October. Watch Bob MacArthur's new video for information on everything to see in the sky this month. Feel free to take a go at some of the objects he outlines and report your findings to our "In the Sky" This Month thread on our SV Users Forum. Good luck! https://ow.ly/fsQr50TAHyt #stellarvue

Greg Erianne managed to capture this staggering shot of the Andromeda Galaxy with his SVX90T. This barred spiral galaxy is approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth. Being the nearest major galaxy to our Milky Way, the Andromeda is expected to collide with our galaxy over the next 4 to 5 billion years. This merger could potentially form a giant elliptical galaxy, or a large lenticular galaxy. With an apparent magnitude of 3.4, the Andromeda is one of the brightest Messier objects, visible to the naked eye, from Earth on moonless nights. https://ow.ly/Lio050TAlMT #stellarvue

Using his SVX180T, Tony Hallas captured this striking shot of the Wizard Nebula in Cepheus. Located about 7,000 light-years away from Earth, this open star cluster spans an area of the sky roughly 5 times the size of the full moon. At its center lies DH Cephei, a variable binary star primarily responsible for ionizing the surrounding hydrogen region and driving gas and dust, while triggering star formation in neighboring regions. https://lnkd.in/gEFzbBNw #stellarvue
