In today's digital age *visibility is everything*— even in academia. This editorial underscores the importance of having an informative, up-to-date lab website. It’s not just about showcasing your publications; it’s about conveying the full scope of your work, ongoing projects, lab culture, and collaboration opportunities in a way that publications can’t capture. A well-designed lab website: 👀 Helps students, collaborators, and even journal editors and conference organizers discover your work 💗 Communicates your values and team structure, key for prospective lab members ✨ Provides a place to discuss newly initiated research projects that might not yet be published 📈 Raises the profiles of your trainees and staff, supporting their career development At Stellate Communications, we specialize in working with labs and research groups to create websites that not only highlight scientific accomplishments, but also serve as comprehensive platforms for attracting new talent, collaborators, and opportunities. Did you know Stellate collaborates with science-driven organizations and nonprofits? We recently had the pleasure of partnering with Biswas Family Foundation to shape their brand and communications including their newly-launched website! The client wanted a logo that reflected the Foundation’s mission of giving through scientific funding. Our team designed a magnolia tree mark to symbolize connection and growth, paired with custom typography and a color palette inspired by the family’s home garden. To align with the founders’ belief in the transformative power of computational approaches, we used AI to generate the hero image—a painterly abstraction of a crowd walking in a city, set against an environment made of binary code. Our creative team refined the AI-generated artwork to enhance the lighting, added a sun to represent hope, and softened the binary code motif to ensure flexibility as the Foundation evolves. Creating an effective website goes beyond captivating visuals - so, our communications team collaborated with creative to bring the Foundation to life through thoughtful language. We crafted a narrative framework for the Foundation as well as supporting written content, including the tagline, boilerplate language, and all web copy. It was a joy working with the Biswas family and their partners at Milken Institute Strategic Philanthropy to develop these foundational brand elements. Thank you for trusting us with your vision!
