Springfield’s Bicentennial Plaza was created to mark the State of Illinois 200th anniversary, linking the Lincoln Home National Historic Site to the Illinois Governer’s Executive Mansion. Sternberg was approached by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting to participate in a pilot supporting their Smart City strategic plans. Installed along North Hill Street are Glenview 1940LED luminaires with IntelliStreets® Smart City solutions on Williamsburg 7800 poles and GRA6 arms. The IntelliStreets® Post Top Modules feature integrated color changing (RGBA) notification beacons for visual cues and an omni-directional speaker that can stream music or real-time announcements, as well as a Wi-Fi gateways, weather stations and managed GFI receptacles. Pynchon Plaza in Springfield MA was recently transformed from vandal plagued eyesore into a vital urban park, reconnecting downtown entertainment with the Quadrangle, museums and city library. The $4 million project features a new elevator, staircase, water feature and resident artwork.
