What do Legal Professionals Have to Say About Misfire? “In ‘Misfire,’ Steve Markoff and his research team take the reader on a fascinating in-depth journey through a mosaic of colonial laws and regulations in order to construct the true underlying historical foundation upon which the 2nd Amendment was birthed and then apply and contrast this milieu with that espoused in Heller–all with surprising results.” ~Robert V. Madden, attorney at law~ “The main thesis of the book, that historical evidence provides no basis for an individual right to firearms, is proven by the arguments and historical documents that you explore in the book.” ~Trina Madison, lawyer~ “I think the book was, overall, well written. I was surprised at the thorough, technical research that went into this, referencing early writings I was wholly unaware of, and documents I was otherwise not this familiar with as applied to firearms/the 2nd Amendment.” ~Joe Ranvestel, civil rights attorney; former public defender~ Get “Misfire” Now! SCOTUS Ignored important Evidence! "Despite substantial evidence to the contrary, Heller, in it's 2008 Court decision tried explaining how the four words in the Second Amendment, “keep and bear arms,” pertained to an individual right, not to the militia.” Their finding was despite the facts that of 482 references to "bear arms" in eight different iterations, 463 (or 96.06%) were used in a militia or military context." Did the SCOTUS Employ Correct Grammatical Interpretation? “Another leg of Heller's support for its finding of an individual right to arms for self-defense in the Second Amendment was analyzing the meaning of the Amendment’s twenty-seven words, separated into prefatory and operative clauses.” Although the Justice wrote that the words of the Second Amendment "...should be understood by the voters; its words and phrases were used in their normal and ordinary as distinguished from technical meaning", it took the Justices over 2,000 words to try and explain the Amendments 27 words. Why Did the SCOTUS Rule the Way They Did? “State Declarations of Rights about guns and arms were an important leg supporting the Heller decision. Heller focused on the post-Second Amendment Declarations, even though the pre-Second Amendment Declarations were twice as numerous and closer in time to the Second Amendment.” Get “Misfire” Now! There Were Stricter Laws Before Heller? Between 1712 and 1783, four of our colonies and states had laws regulating firearms stored in the home and penalties that included seizure of personal arms. Some of those early America laws were stricter than the D.C. arms control laws that Heller found infringed on the Second Amendment Get “Misfire” Now! Why Read “Misfire”? “This book will show, based on a review and analysis of Colonial and founding-era documents, and guns and arms laws through 1791, that the Heller decision was based on cherry-picked facts, obfuscation, and overlooked information suggesting there was no individual right to arms in the Second Amendment.” ~Steven C.
