We are pleased to share our half-year financial update. Despite sector challenges, our performance in the first six months has been resilient. Contract extensions have driven our success amid subdued new business activity. Our focus on specialist STEM skills and flexible talent solutions continues to drive our performance, supported by global megatrends. Our Technology Improvement Programme is on track and on budget, with three of our largest markets now transacting through the platform, showing early operational efficiencies. We are excited about the additional scale benefits as we move towards becoming a digital-first innovator. As we enter the second half of the year, market sentiment remains unchanged. Robust contract extensions reflect our clients' need to retain essential STEM expertise. We are pleased to share our trading update for the half year ending 31st May 2024. Despite the challenges faced by the sector, we have seen a robust performance. Strong contract extensions have partially offset soft new business activity, demonstrating the resilience of our unique business model centred on scarce STEM skills and flexible talent solutions. This alignment with our clients' strategic priorities provides significant growth opportunities across all our key markets.  We are well placed to take full advantage when the market returns. Our growth strategy continues to progress with the phased roll-out of our Technology Improvement Programme. Following a successful launch in the US, deployment in Germany is well under way. We are excited about the significant enhancements this will bring to our Group over the mid-to-long term, positioning us at the forefront of our industry. This week our senior HR business partner, Stephanie Miles - Chartered MCIPD and talent acquisition specialist, Michael Puckering met with the University of Edinburgh Business School at Scotland House London. The students are currently studying degrees in HR and business so this was a good opportunity for them to speak to our experts! Michael and Stephanie introduced the students to SThree by telling them about our history, values, and overseas presence, as well as explaining their own career paths to show how they both got to where they are today. Additionally, they offered students advice on their own career paths such as CV tips and interview skills, as well as hosting a Q&A after the talk. #Rechtssicherheit statt Angst vor #Scheinselbstständigkeit Eines ist klar: für eine starke Wirtschaft benötigen wir hochqualifizierte Fachkräfte, die den Unternehmen projektbasiert, schnell und flexibel zur Seite stehen und mit ihrem spezialisierten Wissen, ihren Erfahrungen, innovativen Ideen und einer hohen Mobilität wichtige Impulse setzen. Genau diese Personen sind in Deutschland knapp und folglich sehr stark nachgefragt. Die Wirkungsmöglichkeiten dieser freiberuflichen Wissensarbeiter dürfen auf keinen Fall durch pauschale regulatorische Eingriffe eingeschränkt werden. Das erklärt, warum auch diesmal bei der Mitgliederversammlung des Bundesverband für selbständige Wissensarbeit e.V. am 25. April 2024 ein besonderer Fokus auf dem Thema der #Scheinselbstständigkeit lag. Prof. Dr. Rainer Schlegel (ehemaliger Präsident des Bundessozialgerichts) hat uns während des Austauschs einige Werkzeuge und Tipps an die Hand gegeben, wie wir uns als Verband von der Politik noch mehr Gehör verschaffen können, um den Einsatz von Solo-Selbständigen stärker zu unterstützen. Zudem haben Marcus Pohl (erster Vorsitzender des isdv e.V. und Präsident des IGVW e.V. sowie Sprecher der BAGSV) und Jörn Freynick (Leiter im Fachbereich Politik des Verband der Gründer und Selbstständigen Deutschland e.V. (VGSD), zuvor Landtagsabgeordneter in Nordrhein-Westfalen) Einblicke über ihre Verbandsarbeit mit uns geteilt. Hierbei konnten wir viele gemeinsame Überschneidungen bei den Herausforderungen für Selbständige in Deutschland feststellen und freuen uns auf den weiteren gemeinsamen Austausch.
