How did you celebrate last week's #NationalCelebrationOfProBono? At Stinson, we honored several attorneys who have gone above and beyond in leveraging their skills and resources to use the law as a vehicle for change. Join us in congratulating Perry Glantz, Drew Glasnovich, a legal team led by Marc Weintraub and included David Kim, Stephen Putnoki-Higgins, Greg Payton and Sweta P., and Ruth Rivard for their unwavering dedication to making justice a reality in our communities. Our celebration of pro bono also included an in-depth discussion with author and journalist Ebony Reed, who provided an exploration of key themes from her book, "Fifteen Cents on the Dollar: How Americans Made the Black-White Wealth Gap." The discussion focused on the staggering injustices and economic issues Black Americans continue to face and provided insights for our attorneys and staff to consider as we work toward positive change. This discussion was hosted in collaboration with our #DEI department and featured insights from Kansas City resident Beverly Rentie, whose family story is featured in Ebony's book. Thank you to all who contribute to pro bono. It is a defining aspect of our firm's history and identity, and we remain committed to amplifying voices of democracy to ensure justice is an equitable and accessible reality in our communities. #ProBono #CelebrateProBono

Alisa Ehrlich and J. Nicci Warr authored an article for HR Daily Advisor discussing the recent decision by a Texas federal court to block the #FTC's rule banning most worker non-compete agreements. The attorneys highlight the impact of the court's decision, which they say is good news for many employers that rely on #noncompetes to protect their trade secrets and other legitimate business interests. They also note that even with the ban on worker non-competes set aside for now, FTC enforcement actions can still be brought on a case-by-case basis. They urge employers to stay up-to-date on legal developments and to consider state laws when enforcing existing or executing new non-competes, as well as to understand what rules are in place in the states where a company does business and where remote employees are located.
