Stephen Putnoki-Higgins and Marc Weintraub authored an article for Tax Notes State outlining the impact of the West Virginia Private Trust Company Act, including detailing how it allows wealthy parties to establish private trust companies in West Virginia, giving them greater control over assets and investment decisions. Steve and Marc say that for clients and families who have historically made their money through closely-held or other family business enterprises, and especially for those who wish to continue to do so going forward, the West Virginia private trust company structure may be enormously liberating, and especially beneficial for families with closely-held businesses or specific investment requirements that may not align with the policies of traditional corporate trustees. Tracey Donesky, J.D. is featured in a special edition of Attorney at Law Magazine discussing the parallels between playing a Division I sport and finding success in the legal profession. Tracey played golf at the University of Kentucky from 1991 – 1995. She says playing golf while trying to achieve the best academic record possible provided a solid foundation for discipline and handling multiple obligations in a successful manner. She also says the challenge of the game, particularly the decision-making that comes with it, "is not unlike litigating a case, taking the facts in the record and presenting for a judge or jury the best and most persuasive argument possible."
