We are thrilled to share that we have officially exceeded 117% of our second fundraising goal for STOP3000, raising an incredible $41,812! 🎉 This milestone holds special significance as it coincides with two major anniversaries: the 30th year since Mike Taylor, our Board member emeritus and former Deputy Director of FDA, declared E. coli O157 an adulterant in ground beef—a monumental moment that forever changed food safety—and the 30th anniversary of Stop Foodborne Illness itself. Mike’s groundbreaking actions in 1994 helped pave the way for industry-wide reforms and highlighted the critical importance of food safety, and we are so proud to have him as part of our journey. As we continue our mission, we acknowledge that we couldn’t have reached this goal without the amazing support from YOU, our network, and followers. If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time to be part of the impact. If you’ve already supported us, please share and comment below to keep the momentum going! Together, we’re building a safer food system for everyone. There is still time to donate in support of our mission! Thank you so much to everyone who has started a fundraising page and raised funds for our STOP3000 Campaign during National Food Safety Education Month!
These are the last five days of the CHALLENGE. Jennifer McEntire and I have been supporting STOP Foodborne Illness in their annual STOP3000 awareness and fundraising event. This is the last push to consider donating to a wonderful organization and cause. Jen and I have stayed honest... each day >3,000 steps... and the race for the most steps is too close to call (but in true scientist fashion, we made a graph to share with you coming after the challenge). On what should have been a joyous journey to welcome their first child, Allison’s family faced a nightmare. Allison was born early, weighing just four pounds and thirteen ounces, and diagnosed with Listeria. This tiny fighter endured tubes, oxygen domes, and two weeks in the NICU before she could finally go home. Allison’s story shows us how something as simple as a piece of cheese can lead to unimaginable suffering. It’s a stark reminder that foodborne illness can strike anyone, anytime—and its impact can be devastating. Help us spread awareness by sharing Allison’s story. Together, we can advocate for safer food practices to protect our loved ones and prevent others from enduring the pain Allison’s family experienced. Read more about Allison’s journey: https://lnkd.in/gQycskUB Your voice matters! Comment below with your thoughts or share your own experiences. This National Food Safety Education Month let’s make food safety a priority. #STOP3000 #stopfoodborneillness #foodsafetyedmonth #foodsafetychampion #foodsafetyculture #walk3000steps

The symptoms of listeria infection can be deceptive, often resembling flu-like symptoms. However, the implications can be much more severe, particularly for pregnant individuals, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. This infection can result from consuming contaminated foods, such as unpasteurized dairy, deli meats, and certain produce. Familiarizing ourselves with its signs, causes, and prevention is crucial for safeguarding our health. To empower yourself with knowledge and reduce the risks, explore the comprehensive information provided on our website: https://lnkd.in/gBg6DJNN Understanding how listeria spreads, its potential complications, and ways to prevent it can help protect both you and your loved ones. #STOP3000 #stopfoodborneillness #foodsafetyedmonth #foodsafety #foodsafetyculture #walk3000steps #listeria
