🚛 Sharing the Road Safely with Large Trucks Trucks are essential for our economy, but their size and operation require extra caution from other drivers. At Storey Trucking, safety is our top priority. Here are some tips for sharing the road safely with large trucks: ✅ Avoid Blind Spots ("No Zones") If you can't see the truck driver in their mirrors, they can't see you. Stay out of blind spots on all sides of the truck. ✅ Don't Cut in Front Trucks need more space to stop. Always give them plenty of room when merging or changing lanes. ✅ Pass on the Left The left side offers the best visibility for truck drivers. Pass quickly and safely, and avoid cutting back in too soon. ✅ Keep a Safe Following Distance Tailgating is dangerous, as it reduces reaction time and visibility. Stay far enough back so you can see the truck's mirrors. ✅ Watch for Wide Turns Trucks often swing wide to complete turns, especially to the right. Never try to squeeze between a turning truck and the curb. By following these tips and driving defensively around large trucks, we can all help make the roads safer.
