We are deeply grateful to the state of Florida and State Representative Linda Chaney for support in advancing our mission of Youth Development. These funds will support our plans to expand Speer YMCA Preschool Academy, which includes new rooms for toddlers and infants and some new outdoor amenities, allowing us to better serve local families and provide essential early learning resources. Rep. Chaney’s support is invaluable in helping us create lasting, positive impacts for young minds in our community, as well as providing a direct economic benefit by improving workforce readiness. After an impactful 33-year YMCA career, including nine years with YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, our Chief Operating Officer, Tim Staley, will retire at the end of this year. Tim’s leadership has been instrumental, from opening Speer YMCA in partnership with Pinellas County Schools to overseeing our COVID response and expanding early childhood care. Though stepping away, Tim will continue to consult with YMCAs and nonprofit organizations, doing project management and strategic planning while enjoying more family time. With over 30 years of civic engagement, Susan has touched countless lives through her work in local businesses, educational programs, and charitable efforts. From her role as Managing Principal at Sabal Trust to serving on the YMCA Board since 2003, Susan has truly been a driving force for positive change. She became the first female Board Chair in 2013 and spearheaded critical early childhood education programs that continue to create opportunities for children in St. Pete.
