Congrats to Alan Reid on becoming SFDN Certified! ⁠ Alan Reid, MS, LAT, ATC opened Rally Time Athletic Therapy in the spring of 2021, offering hands-on therapy and individualized rehab programs for active individuals in the Fort Worth area. Over the past 20 years, he has gained valuable experience working in traditional sports settings, from Major League Soccer and Minor League Hockey, to an Independent K-12 School. Alan has a thirst for knowledge and continued education, from presenting at regional and national conferences, to serving as preceptor and adjunct professor for AT Edcuation Programs and working one year as the Clinical Education Coordinator at TCU. Alan lives with his wife, Deven, in Fort Worth, TX and enjoys being out in nature preferably near water, cooking at home to relax and long road trips with a good podcast. Way to go, Alan! As the saying goes..."is the juice worth the squeeze?" When needling high-risk areas, we need to know the levels of risk associated with needling certain anatomical regions. This study looked at concerns associated with needling the rectus abdominus. Unfortunately the article didn't include photos of the two techniques utilized, but regardless, this area is one to think twice about needling due to a lower success rate of safe needle placement. Informed consent and patient education is critical when dry needling. Period. But in higher risk areas, the patient needs to understand the risk versus reward outlook.
