Planners, Developers, Architects, if you're: Starting a project -> ✨ Reach out to your clients today and tell them you are grateful for them and excited to develop a relationship with them In the middle of a project -> ✨Tell your client what you appreciate about what they bring to the table and why their work is valuable to the bigger picture At the end of a project -> ✨Express your thanks for their support and engagement in the work and how it helped your firm be better designers. Whether a project is going well or not, there is always a learning moment for us that can make us better designers. Bottom line: Respecting and showing appreciation for our clients helps to establish more trust and open lines of communication; ultimately leading to healthier, long-term relationships and a smoother project overall. #urbanplanning #architecture #urbandesign #communitydevelopment

Here are a few tips to get your most important stakeholders more engaged in the design process during your next renovation. Architects, developers and planners design spaces for more than just financial stakeholders. Considering and involving community members and leaders can often lead to more fruitful and nuanced designs that benefit the communities you are improving infrastructure for.

6 years ago, the community of Kensington Maryland changed forever. Today, it is thriving and feels more connected than ever. Despite the dense urban environments that surround it, it has been able to maintain it's small town charm. The reason? A third place so special, it's worth taking the time to your personal visit. For now, you can watch how this bar is changing the way we design third places here: https://lnkd.in/e_bYmNQQ

A holistic design approach recognizes the need to have as many community voices invited and involved in the design conversation as possible. Just because you are not an architect/ planner/ developer, does not mean you should not have a say on how your space is improved. #urbanplanning #urbandesign #architecture

Building good public transit, pedestrian throughways and connected spaces are only as useful to us as the culture is strong. While designing spaces that help to improve the infrastructural aspects of our community, we should also engage in conversations that can help us stimulate the cultural characteristics of a place. This helps to: 1. Create a unique sense of place, residents can be proud of 2. Give examples and create excitement around how the space can continue to be used. 3. Develop stronger ties with the present community with their historical roots. All of which help to create stronger social bonds and a deeper sense of belonging.
