Last weekend's Annual Suffolk AME Member Picnic and 40th Anniversary Celebration was a resounding success, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who joined us in solidarity! The picnic provided us with a wonderful opportunity to come together as a Suffolk AME union family, unwind, reflect on our achievements over the past year, and discuss our goals and priorities for the future. We were honored to have the presence and support of State and Local leaders and Elected Officials at the picnic! A special thank you goes out to New York State Attorney General Tish James and New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, who took the time to engage with our members one-on-one about the issues that matter most to them. Suffolk AME was proud to be joined by County Executive Ed Romaine, whose presence and engagement with many of our members further emphasized his support for the hardworking men and women of Suffolk AME and served as a testament to the valuable relationship between our union and the County Executive's office. We were joined by an impressive lineup of Elected Officials including Suffolk AME Retiree’s Unit member and Assemblyman Joe DeStefano, Senator Monica Martinez, Assemblyman Ed Flood, Senator Anthony Palumbo, Assemblyman Doug Smith, Senator Dean Murray, and Senator Mario Mattera. We acknowledge and appreciate the strong relationships we have fostered with our State representatives and their unwavering support for Labor. Our local leaders, including Presiding Officer Legislator Kevin McCaffrey, Majority Leader Legislator Nicholas Caracappa, Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy, and many of our esteemed Suffolk County Legislators, also joined us for an exhilarating day of Suffolk AME solidarity, for which we are truly grateful. Suffolk AME takes immense pride in representing the dedicated men and women who contribute to making Suffolk County a place where our friends, neighbors, and loved ones can live and thrive. We extend our thanks to every member, community leader, and Elected Official who took part in our celebration at Southaven County Park. Special appreciation goes out to our Parks Department members for their hard work in preparing a beautiful, clean, and serene setting for our event, and to our Social Committee and Suffolk AME staff for their efforts in ensuring this year’s picnic was a resounding success. As we mark our 40th anniversary this year, we look forward to continuing our advocacy for the rights and well-being of workers in Suffolk County.
