Our #sucareerchronicles series returns with a special spotlight on two recent grads! Jackson Crilley is a recent ADPR alum currently working as the Communications Coordinator for the Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council who was recently featured in our latest Blazer magazine. "I was connected to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) through Dr. Jane Secci, where I was first exposed to the area of disability support, services, and advocacy. From the start of my academic journey, my end goal has been to work in the field of health communications, and this internship shaped my perspective about my work through the lens of an audience that is too often overlooked or undervalued, which I have and will continue to bring with me to future projects and positions." Shirley Dang is another alum recently featured in our magazine and we are excited to hear that she is on her way to becoming a double Suffolk Ram! Shirley currently works for North Shore Bank as a Personal Banker. "Suffolk has helped me in a variety of ways in my career. The Career Center was a tremendous help in perfecting my resume and they continue to do so whenever I have any questions. Suffolk also taught me to get out of my comfort zone and be my true self. The wide range of classes at Suffolk and the ability to take them helped me determine my career goals, as I initially had a different field in mind. Knowing I could rely on the Suffolk community, I was able to leap in a different direction, which has now landed me with great opportunities and room to grow."

Thanks to a generous gift from Michael Gness, BA ’74, Sawyer Business School students now have full access to the "Investing in Education" program from Dow Jones. It includes Barron's & MarketWatch, experiential learning opportunities—including live webinars featuring top financial advisors and journalists— networking, and more. “Promoting financial literacy and proficiency is my passion,” says Gness. “So in my mind was, ‘What can I do to help people become more astute when it comes to managing their money?’”

Today I attended Suffolk University Career Center’s Senior Conference Networking event! Thinking about getting my first big girl job post grad can be stressful. Hearing from the panelists who went through the job hunting process not too far from me was truly inspiring and encouraging.
