Khandeghar is one of our supported school for last 10 years. While we had got its infrastructure (compound, toilet, school painting etc) to a level, it still needed few things to make it a model/ complete school in itself. The small, but important factor of playground equipment – such as swing, slides, see-saw, merry-go-round etc was pending. Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview supported our requirement of providing playground equipments in Khandeghar. We are delighted to share the heartwarming story of Saguni, an inspiring woman from Bahirampada, Vikramgad in Palghar Taluka. Through Vastu Housing Finance Corporation Ltd.’s CSR initiative, Oonchee Udaan, which empowers women in rural India, we could help transform Saguni’s dreams into reality. Despite facing health challenges, Saguni’s determination to improve her family’s life has been unwavering. With our support, she now runs her own shop, turning a simple verandah into “Saguni Kirana and General Store.” This story perfectly encapsulates the objectives of Suhrid Foundation and essence of Oonchee Udaan, as we continue to empower women like Saguni to achieve their dreams and uplift their communities. Continuing our effort to support girl child education, we have been working with Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalay (KGBV) for over 2 years now. In this school, there are challenges of shortage of teaching staff for few subjects for some grades. Last year, we had supported with additional teacher for last few months of the academic year in doing a crash-course for Maths for girls of Standard 10th. But, availability of teacher in Vikramgad is not always feasible and we may have to draw availability of teachers from our network in Mumbai. At the same time, coming to Vikramgad on regular basis for those teachers from Mumbai is also not always feasible. Hence, we moved to an option of using technology - i.e. remote learning and e-Learning setup. To ensure that learning does not stop for these girls, we decided to install full-size TV, e-Learning syllabus, Laptop, microphone and speakers. This would take care of self-learning (using e-learning SSC syllabus 1st to 10th standard) and also remote video calling facility for sessions by teachers from remote location. https://lnkd.in/dyiPEJfR
