  • One of the easiest ways to support those affected by Hurricane Helene is blood donation. This is why Summerville Medical Center and The Blood Connection strongly urge the community to roll up their sleeves and donate blood on Thursday, October 24. The Blood Connection serves South Carolina, North Carolina, and portions of Georgia and Virginia. With offices in Savannah and Augusta closed due to Helene, the blood supply is critically low. The blood drive will be held in the Blood Connection's Blood Mobile 10am - 3pm outside of our Visitor Entrance. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. Visit https://bit.ly/3BuR7Ko or call (864) 255-5000 to make an appointment for the October 24 Blood Drive.

  • Our mission is “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” Three members of our nursing team exemplified that mission yesterday when they flew to our sister facility at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, GA to help our colleagues where needed - in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Thank you to Paolo DeDios, RN, Melissa Graham, RN, and Lanae Simmons, RN for quickly answering the call and for other teammates who are joining them in coming days. We are proud to provide care not just to the communities we serve, but also to our own community of colleagues by way of our HOPE Fund. The HOPE Fund helps provide financial support to our staff during times of hardship or challenges like natural disasters. If you would like to help, find out how at www.HCAHopefund.com. Thank you. #HOPEFund #helpinginmoreways #CareLikeFamily #HCAnurses HCA Healthcare

  • International NICU Read-a-Thon | Last week our friends with the Summerville Evening Rotary Club, Summerville Lunch Rotary Club, and Summerville Breakfast Rotary Club joined our families, staff and volunteers for the "Babies with Books" NICU Read-a-Thon held in NICUs across the world to read to our tiniest patients. Why is it important to read to babies during their NICU stay? Reading to babies promotes brain development and also provides an important opportunity for families to bond with their babies, along with the staff who help take care of them. These are especially important for babies with prolonged hospitalizations and babies with poor neurodevelopmental outcomes. Thank you to our local Rotarians, parents, staff and volunteers for taking the time to read books to our little miracles! ❤️❤️ Read more about Summerville Medical Center's new Level III NICU: https://lnkd.in/eeaKAqNC. #readingtomybaby #fightlikeapreemie #readtoyourpreemie #BWBRead-A-Thon2024 #babieswithbooks
