CMMC isn’t a requirement to bid on defense contractors, but #CMMC is a requirement to take award of #DoD contracts. 🚨📣 🚨 📣🚨 📣 𝗕𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗣 𝗕𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗣 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 - 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗟𝗟 The 48 CFR CMMC Proposed Rule will be published Thursday 8/15/2024 The 60-day public comment period will end Tuesday 10/15/2024 The proposed changes to the existing DFARS language are primarily to: 1) Add references to the CMMC 2.0 program requirements proposed at 32 CFR part 170; 2) Add definitions for controlled unclassified information (CUI) and DoD unique identifier (DoD UID) to the subpart; 3) Establish a solicitation provision and prescription; and 4) Revise the existing clause language and prescription. The phased roll-out will be 3 years long DoD estimates 35% of the DIB will need CMMC Level 2 certification Based on the speed of the 32 CFR CMMC rule going from proposed, through comments and adjudication, and onto a final rule we could see the phased roll-out begin in Summer 2025. The DoD includes responses to public comments on the 2020 CMMC rule. With regard to small business impact, you get a phased roll-out, "intended to mitigate the impact of CMMC on contractors" (yes, that's a real answer on page 13).
