I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend some time with Vik Singh today thanks to my good friend John Siefert. Vik is the Corporate Vice President for Copilot and AI at Microsoft. He shared some great insights and anecdotes about the current state of Copilot and where Microsoft is headed with the AI journey. Of course…like 90% of what he has under his purview sits under NDA’s…so, we’re all just going to have to keep following him to soak up his knowledge and his perspective. We discussed the impact of power constraints and the fact that a hybrid cloud strategy is critical as companies exit pilots and head into production with their internal AI initiatives. Huge shout-out to the amazing team at Structure Research for putting together this year's infra/STRUCTURE Summit event in Vegas! Our CEO, Warren Patterson, joined a powerhouse panel to tackle the question: "Which Way Forward for Managed Infrastructure and Cloud?" alongside leaders from Rocket.net, Colohouse/Hivelocity, and Structure Research. It was encouraging to observe the renewed interest in moving certain cloud workloads back on-prem. (Understandably, no one wants to believe us when we say that the cost savings post-cloud repatriation are huge when we stand to benefit. 🤷) This year’s speakers and attendees included some of the biggest names (and legends!) of our industry. When we decided to expand our team to the Philippines, we knew we wanted to do more than just grow our numbers. We wanted to invest in the region, particularly in the youth who represent the future of the Philippines. Today, we took a significant step in that direction through the Summit Cares program. In partnership with our incredible BPO partner, Technology Elite, we had the honor of sponsoring 80 children from the indigenous population in Porac Pampanga. These children, who were greatly affected by the COVID outbreak, had fallen behind in their reading and literacy skills. But today, we were able to make a difference. Thanks to Dustin from Tech Elite, who donated his own authored books—primers filled with pictures of Philippine animals, featuring text in English, Tagalog, and Baybayin (the ancient Philippine calligraphy)—we were able to bring the joy of reading to these kids. We engaged in activities like animal yoga, reading sessions, and creating dioramas with our small groups. The smiles on the children's faces were truly heartwarming. But our commitment doesn't stop there. Summit has also sponsored an additional 5-6 months of a comprehensive reading program for all 80 second graders, ensuring they have the support they need to catch up and thrive. A special shoutout to our amazing Philippines partner, Technology Elite, and our wonderful Summit team members—Shannon Kaiser, Mount E., and Maricel —for their heartfelt involvement in this event. Your dedication to the community is inspiring. Last but not least, a big thank you to Fe Read for her incredible help in organizing all the Summit Cares events! Together, we are making a positive impact and creating lasting memories.
