Solar energy generation lowers costs for everyone, and a new study quantified just how much it can lower your utility bill. “Lead author Nick Laws told Inside Climate News investing in these types of demand-reducing systems would bring a savings of approximately $3 million (40%, including incentives) on our utility bills.” Community solar, rooftop solar, and battery energy storage systems are all named for their superpower ability to lower costs for ratepayers. https://lnkd.in/gb7B4MWu

This weekend, October 27th, is US Navy Day — traditionally celebrated two weeks after the October 13th anniversary of the founding of the US Navy (which turned 249 this year earlier this month!). We are deeply grateful for service members across all branches of the US military. Here at Sun Tribe, veterans comprise more than 11% of our team, nearly double the percentage of veterans in the US civilian population overall. Sun Tribe veterans have served a combined 70+ years of service spanning the United States Air Force, United States Marine Corps, US Army, and US Navy. On the eve of US Navy Day, we especially celebrate and thank Tony Deyerle, PMP, LEED Green Associate. Tony spent 5 years in the Navy and served two tours in the Persian Gulf. Today he’s a senior project developer at Sun Tribe advancing American energy independence.

New Loyola University Chicago research shows that utility-scale solar projects in rural areas increase nearby property values. Researchers went on to point out that "smaller projects have more of a positive impact on nearby property values than projects that are 20 megawatts or larger." With Sun Tribe's focus on right-size, community-scale solar projects here in the Commonwealth and the surrounding region, our team and our projects are continually focused on how we can serve and support the communities in which we are privileged to operate. https://lnkd.in/gZXDWWrN

A few weeks ago, the Solar Energy Industries Association published the Q3 2024 edition of their Solar Market Insight Report, with data through Q2. Solar accounted for two-thirds (67%) of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the US grid in the first half of the year. American energy independence continues to strengthen, in part thanks to affordable, domestic solar energy. Get the full executive summary of SEIA's report here: https://lnkd.in/gigdENGu

Recent research published by the USDA found that the overwhelming majority of ag lands surrounding solar PV project sites tended to stay in agricultural production. For our part, we're proud of the way Sun Tribe projects help preserve rural landscapes, honor the heritage of the land, and support local farmers and landowners. https://lnkd.in/gKR8WF6c #Solar #Agriculture #Farmland

Today EU-based IPP ContourGlobal announced its entrance into the US renewable energy market with the acquisition of 151 MWdc of solar assets from Sun Tribe. “As the developer of record for this portfolio, this transaction epitomizes our business plan in the region. We view ourselves as working in service of landowners, communities, offtakers, and sophisticated owner-operators such as ContourGlobal. We are accordingly grateful to have achieved this important milestone and wish our partners full success during construction and operation.” — Danny Van Clief, CEO of Sun Tribe Development
Today marks a significant milestone for #ContourGlobal as we proudly announce our entrance into the U.S. #renewables market—a key step in executing our new strategy. 🇺🇸 ⚡ We are acquiring two #solarPV ☀️ assets in South Carolina, totaling 151 MWdc, in advanced development stage and with long-term PPAs in place. This achievement reflects the dedication of our #BusinessDevelopment team, our partner Sun Tribe, and all those who contributed to this transaction. This project expands our U.S. presence, where we already manage over 1.2 GW of thermal installed capacity, and also reinforces our commitment to growing in renewables while ensuring a sustainable transition for our thermal assets. With state-of-the-art technology, we will build these projects to deliver stable, affordable, and renewable electricity to power U.S. communities. Read more ↘️ https://lnkd.in/de3VKHfe

We’re using more power than ever, and the increased energy demand shows no signs of letting up. “With growing power demand from data centers, manufacturing and the electrification of transportation and buildings, the EIA projected power demand will rise to 4,101 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2024 and 4,185 billion kWh in 2025.” Solar energy is stepping up to the plate to provide new capacity to meet demand ➡️ 60% of new capacity added in the first half of 2024 came from solar. Solar electricity is the right energy source for the growing economy, providing a reliable, non-polluting source of electricity. https://lnkd.in/g8WXbcec
