Trauma can happen to anyone regardless of how old or young they are. This means that it is possible that our teenage patients have gone through traumatic experiences and can benefit from treatment. One type of trauma they might be exposed to is dating violence. In our blog post below, we explain the signs to look for if a teen is experiencing it and how treatment helps them heal. Feel free to share it with the parents of your teen patients. https://lnkd.in/guwVrcfK

Establishing a daily routine is vital to recovering from trauma, but many of our patients find it difficult to do so. Here are some tips you can give them. - Decide what needs to be in your routine. What is most important to you? - If you want to make time for exercise, do it before or after work. Many people don’t want to leave the house again once they get home. - Lay out a plan one week at a time. Write out everything you want and need to do as if it were multiple appointments. - Make it fun. This could include attending a cooking class with a friend or creating an upbeat playlist for cleaning the house. - Cross things off after completing a task. The act of crossing off a task when it is finished can be a satisfying and rewarding experience that boosts someone’s mood. - Reward yourself for consistency and meeting your goals. This can be as small as buying your favorite candy bar after keeping up with your routine for a week or buying the pair of shoes you have been eyeing for a while.
