Timelapse of the mystery object being printed. What could this be?

Nothing to see here 👀 Unless you are interested in #3Dprinting concrete (#3DCP) or Automated Construction by Extrusion (#ACE). These are a few test prints made over the last week. (answer to last week’s mystery print): The grey one in the back was printed 3x; twice without accelerant and the last time with accelerant added. I’ll post a link below. The print on the left was not geometrically symmetric so it collapsed after printing. The print on the right shows the latest iteration of the shape (CAD symmetry now fully constrained 🤓). The “brim” was removed to get a more finished shape (maybe a racing snail 🐌 shell) Why print these? This offers a standard overhang test for cement binder printing while also producing a flat section for bending strength or split tensile (using a hole saw). The size can be adjusted to meet printed bead size. At this size (10kg / 400mm long x 130mm deep x 200mm tall) everything can be mixed in a 5-gallon bucket for rapid batch mixing of several mixes for rapid testing. This significantly saves time in cleaning the mixer for each different formulation. But it’s so small - how is that useful for large prints? 🏠 Well - slice it in half and add it to your design. In conventional manufacturing of castings or forging this might be called a “prolong” or extra material fabricated explicitly for testing - this captures real-time process and material characteristics. I think it might help those printing overhangs to know if their material will be capable at layer level (if this is printed first and the process / material is consistent). What do you think?
