“My mother has always been a significant role model in my life. As a lawyer by practice here in Singapore, she has achieved a great deal in her career, despite having to raise 6 children in a then male-dominated industry. This inspired me to study law and follow in her footsteps. However, what makes her my role model goes beyond her professional success. It's the way she engages with people that truly stands out. While in some cultures, strangers may not readily connect, my mom is the opposite—she initiates conversations with people she doesn't know, always showing genuine care and interest. Her ability to connect with others taught me the importance of compassion and building meaningful relationships. When I decided to shift from law to psychology, she was incredibly supportive of my decision. After studying psychology, I spent three years as a flight attendant. During this time, my love for storytelling and the service industry truly sparked, prompting me to eventually leave the airlines and venture into the restaurant and whisky bar scene. In 2015, I opened my first whisky retail business in Singapore. This experience deepened my connection to Suntory’s portfolio, a relationship that has now come full circle as I was brought on last year as a Regional Brand Ambassador for the House of Suntory, overseeing brand representation across the Southeast Asian market." Our three-story Suntory -196 EXTREME Vending Machine returned to SXSW Sydney this week, transporting visitors into the innovative and intensely Japanese world of our -196 Ready-To-Drink brand. Standing 12 meters tall, this larger-than-life vending machine offers a unique experience on each level – including a world of mirrors, a “Tokyo Neon Nightlife” and rooftop bar with panoramic views of the Sydney skyline. And guests had the chance to head to refresh at the -196 Lemon Garden. We partnered with Tokyo Taco to serve up a Suntory-style innovative fusion of Japanese and Mexican flavors that pair perfectly with an ice-cold Suntory -196, whether it’s Double Lemon, Double Grape or Double Peach.
