Today, September 25, is SDG Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) - a set of 17 global goals adopted by all United Nations member states, to be achieved by 2030. This agenda, introduced in 2015, establishes the means to address the main challenges faced by humanity, including social and economic development issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, global warming, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, the environment, and social justice. Today we give recognition to 🎥John Werner, 🎬Director of Sales at Superior Materials. A 🦸♂️legend in the industry, John began his ready- mix career in 1986 as a 👨🔧Mechanic/Mixer Driver at Cornillie Concrete-Detroit. This was just the beginning of his career that became his lifetime ❤️🔥passion. He has 💪worked at many Superior locations, held various positions, and gained a wide range of knowledge through the years. Mechanic🔩, ready mix truck 🚛driver, quality control manager, dispatcher, plant manager, operations manager, territorysales manager, regional sales manager, and his current role as 👨💼Director of sales. Anyone that knows John would agree he is nothing shy of remarkable❤️. He is a great mentor, always available whenever needed, wears his heart on his sleeve, and leaves an impression on anyone that he meets. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for him here. John has always enjoyed spending time with his three 🧑🧑🧒🧒children and one grandchild, attending concerts, and listening to all types of 🎶🎼🎤🎵music. One thing about life is people may forget what you did for them but will always remember how you made them feel. Thank you, John, for everything you do! It is greatly appreciated by all!🥰

Today, August 1, is Earth Overshoot Day. This date signifies the point at which human demands on natural resources exceed what the planet can naturally produce. In other words, we are using more than the Earth can produce or renew. Circularity is one way we can reduce over-utilizing natural resources and greenhouse gas emissions. Co-processing combines decarbonization with waste management to ensure that we continue evolving towards a sustainable world. 💡 🌱 At Votorantim Cimentos, we replace fossil fuels with alternative fuels, such as biomass, which reduces carbon emissions in our cement kilns.
