Our EMT students are gaining critical skills in every training session. Yesterday, they learned about N95 fit testing with Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service - the official training provider for our EMT program. Fit testing is a detailed process that ensures each mask creates a proper seal around the face. This prevents harmful particles, like bacteria and viruses, from entering the respiratory system. For EMTs working in unpredictable, high-risk situations, it’s essential that these masks fit correctly to protect them when they’re responding to emergencies. During the fit test, students are trained on how to wear their masks, how to adjust them for the best fit, and how to check for any air leaks. This hands-on training prepares our students for real-world scenarios where safety and protection are critical. A properly fitted mask can make all the difference in the field, allowing EMTs to do their jobs with confidence. We are proud to partner with Superior to ensure our students are ready to protect themselves and their patients. This training goes beyond the classroom and prepares them for the realities they will face as frontline healthcare professionals. #FirstRespondersInAction #SuperiorAmbulance #LifeSavingSkills #FrontlineHeroes

  • Superior Ambulance is known for our classic neon ambulances, but we also have some rigs designed for particular events and causes. One of these specially designed rigs supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month long effort during October to educate everyone about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. What rig would you like to see next? 🚑 #ems #emslife #emt #paramedic #ambulance

  • On behalf of the entire Superior Ambulance team, we send our condolences to the Nielsen and NORCOMM family.

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we inform everyone of the sudden and unexpected death of our colleague and dear friend, Donald J Nielsen, who passed away yesterday. We will all miss him more than words can express and our deepest regrets and condolences go out to the entire Nielsen family. Don is a graduate of Fenwick High School (Oak Park, IL), and a graduate of Loyola University BBA (Chicago), a National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Emergency Number Professional (ENP), and a NENA Center Manager Certificate Program (CMCP) graduate. Don was passionate about Public Safety and dedicated his life to being a Public Safety Professional by starting as one of the first professionally trained Public Safety Telecommunicators for the Village of Melrose Park PSAP/ECC back when E911 was first introduced in the early 1990s, a System Analyst for the Village of Melrose Park, as well as serving as a part-time sworn Police Officer for the Village of Melrose Park, followed by being appointed as the Executive Director of NORCOMM Public Safety Communications – overseeing the NORCOMM PSAP that provides emergency 9-1-1 Dispatch Services to the Village of Melrose Park, Village of Stone Park, Village of Bellwood, Village of Rosemont, Village of Elmwood Park, Village of Franklin Park, Village of River Grove, the Leyden Fire Protection District, the Northlake Fire Protection District, and MABAS Division 20. Don is survived by his wife, Guadalupe, son, Donnie Jr., his mom, Linda, his stepfather Terry, and numerous friends and family members. The arrangement for the celebration of Donald’s life will be shared as soon as the information is received. We kindly ask that you keep the Nielsen and NORCOMM family in your thoughts and prayers.
