Things I would do again as a supply chain major: ✨Write out career goals and the steps to take to reach them: Putting pen to paper is half the journey! ✨Study abroad: My favorite experience of college! It teaches you how to think bigger and that supply chains connect all over the world. Chances are you will be interacting with someone internationally for work someday! ✨Get involved with supply chain clubs: If your university has a way for you to learn more about the industry, learn about various careers, network, and engage in professional development, this is a great way to get involved! Bonus points if you join a leadership position within the club🫶🏻 ✨Add an interesting minor: I added a retail studies minor, which complements my supply chain classes. I am able to be creative and learn about an industry I am passionate about ✨Make lifelong memories: you are only in college once! Say yes to sponteneous coffees with friends and concerts What would you do again as a supply chain major?🤍 🏷️ #supplychain #personaldevelopment #motivation

"Supply chain is the heartbeat of everything!"  ✨Meet Shay Lynn✨ She is the CEO of SCALE Logistics 🚚🌟 Supply Chain Gals had the opportunity to interview Shay Lynn and here is what we learned about her: SCG: How did you get into your current role? SD: I worked in corporate for a large 3PL who laid me off when my son got diagnosed with epilepsy. I was a consultant for small businesses until my non-compete ended and started my own 3PL.   SCG: What skills should supply chain gals have? SD: As the CEO of SCALE Logistics, I’ve developed a strong ability to lead with vision, setting a clear direction for our company while inspiring my team to navigate industry changes and drive growth. Strategic thinking has become second nature, allowing me to identify trends, seize opportunities, and manage risks that keep us competitive and efficient in the logistics industry. I focus on operational efficiency, always looking for ways to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service quality to ensure profitability. SCG: What advice do you have for people who want to break into the supply chain or work in supply chain management? SD: Find a good role model, mentor, coach, and sponsor as each one of these people will help you grow in a different way but in the same direction. Focus on building relationships before you need them. Learn how to communicate and ask the right questions. Tackle every challenge head on and transparency builds trust. 🏷️ #supplychain #innovation #management

"There is never a dull moment." ✨Meet Mary✨ She is the founder and CEO of Boon LLC 💻 Supply Chain Gals had the opportunity to interview Mary and here is what we learned about her: SCG: How did you get into your current role? MW: I got into my current role after a decade in large corporate retail. I started my career at Target Headquarters in Minneapolis MN. It was a phenomenal place to learn about retail and all the best practices from such an established brand. I still hold onto so much of the foundational learning from my years at Target, even in what I do today. But after Target I moved to NYC and spent time at Tiffany & Co. as well as Victoria’s Secret & Co. So I had experience at 3 major brands and was then ready to apply those skills in a different way and took the leap to start-ups and joined the jewelry brand Chloe + Isabel. After a few years of working at Chloe + Isabel I once again made the leap to start my own agency to bring the inventory planning function to lots of start up brands across the industry and founded Boon. SCG: What skills should supply chain gals have? MW: Attention to Detail - These can be the difference in major cost implications as well as inventory levels which ultimately leads to revenue potential. Data Analysis - It is generally simple algebra and putting inputs together in a rational way to arrive at the different scenarios, so it is imperative that you are comfortable in numbers and spreadsheets but it doesn’t require a high level math degree. Critical Thinking - there is no one answer to supply chain issues. It is crucial to think about what is happening and evaluate the different solutions and their corresponding likely outcomes. There is also an art and science element of the job. It is always as simple as an algebra equation so the ability to pull together the blend of both is absolutely essential. Relationship Building - From marketing and understanding what products they are promoting to CFO and understanding the top line financial goals and then of course the merchants and buyers who plan the future assortment, you have to have strong relationships to get the right inputs to be able to execute the necessary data analysis. SCG: What advice do you have for people who want to break into the supply chain or work in supply chain management? MW: - Develop Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Gain Practical Experience - Stay Adaptable and Curious - Network with Industry Professionals And honestly, the fact that you are reading this post means you are already well on your way to doing a lot of these things! 🏷️ #supplychain #innovation #management #ceo
